Mission & vision

Purpose, stated plainly.

What ADWEN is for, and the future it is working toward.

Our mission

To empower African diaspora women entrepreneurs to build sustainable and scalable businesses through culturally grounded leadership development, digital innovation, mentorship, and collective economic action.

Our vision

A globally connected ecosystem where African diaspora women entrepreneurs thrive economically, lead boldly, and shape inclusive markets across borders and generations.

What this means in practice

From statement to programme

A mission is only real if it appears in the calendar. For ADWEN, that means structured business education delivered in cohorts, mentorship matched by sector and market, accountability circles that meet on a fixed rhythm, and clinics that work on one specific business challenge at a time.

It also means economic inclusion work: preparing members for funding, surfacing opportunities, and building relationships with institutions that can open markets.

Our values

Six commitments

  • Cultural Grounding

Support that begins with who our members are, not who a template assumes them to be.

  • Excellence

Practical, rigorous programmes that hold up in real markets.

  • Collective Power

What we build together is stronger than what any of us builds alone.

  • Integrity

Clear commitments, honest numbers, and follow-through.

  • Courage

Leading visibly, negotiating firmly, and asking for what the work is worth.

  • Generosity

Members who have crossed a threshold help the next woman across it.
